Why we exist

Health is not distributed evenly — and that's fixable.

Where you live in Kansas City can predict how long you'll live. We think that's unacceptable, and we think athletes are uniquely positioned to help change it.

Our mission is to empower athletes to leverage their visibility, leadership, and lived experiences to advance health equity in underserved communities. Athletes are a symbol of responsibility — one we believe should be used to inspire change.

We unite the power of sport with evidence-based initiatives to reduce health disparities, expand access to resources, and inspire lasting change. Through advocacy, education, research, and community partnership, we equip athletes to be catalysts for healthier futures for all.

Advocacy

Athletes speak up where it matters most.

Education

Turning data into awareness fans act on.

Research

Community-sourced insight, not assumptions.

The problem

Kansas City's health outcomes depend on your zip code — not just your choices.

Health disparities are unfair, preventable differences in health outcomes driven by social, geographic, and economic factors. In Kansas City, the data tells a stark story.

Why athletes?

Sport is the one language the whole city already speaks.

Athletes occupy a unique, unifying role in society. They reach the hearts of communities other messengers can't, and they carry a built-in credibility that comes from resilience, responsibility, and hope. We believe that outreach comes with a responsibility to use it for good.

UMKC is Kansas City's premier university, with deep roots throughout the city and a School of Medicine embedded in local hospitals and youth health programs. UMKC Athletics has cultivated unwavering community support — a foundation we can build on.

1,000 Fans, one game

Last year, the UMKC men's soccer program set a single-game attendance record with nearly 1,000 fans in the stands — not counting everyone watching from home. That's the scale of reach we're putting to work for health equity.

Our approach

Five ways we put athletes' platforms to work.

01

Live Events at Games

Booths and tents outside stadiums on gamedays, tickets and proceeds directed toward the community affected by a spotlighted disparity, and halftime moments that put our message on the field.

02

Social Media

Program updates, health disparity spotlights, and short-form storytelling — amplified alongside UMKC Athletics — to reach fans across the greater KC area who can't make it to live events.

03

Sports Org Collaboration

Partnering with Kansas City's collegiate and professional sports teams to give athletes a tailored gateway into a life-changing cause, growing our outreach exponentially.

04

Campus Presence

Booths at high-traffic UMKC spots — the cafeteria, library, rec center — plus flyers, promotional gear, and fundraising competitions that reach students beyond typical sports fans.

05

Community & Volunteering

Hands-on volunteer campaigns with partners like Harvesters and Kanbe's Markets, plus speaking engagements in community centers and hospitals, tailored to what each neighborhood needs.

Community partners

We're not starting from zero — we're joining forces.
